中秋の名月

9月19日の今夜は中秋の名月。今日は旧暦の8月15日。中秋の名月は必ずしも満月とは限らないらしい。来年以降はしばらく「少しだけ欠けた名月」の年が続きそうで、今年のような満月がみられるのはの年の8年後らしい。仕事の帰り、夜空を見上げる。23:00現在、雲一つない夜空に浮かぶお月さん、日中残暑が残るとはいえ、秋を感じ始める時候となった。

Since the Heian period (794-1185), Japanese people have celebrated their love of the moon.
In those days, instead of admiring the moon by looking up at the sky, people loved to go out boats and watch the reflection of the moon on the water. In autumn, seasonal flowers and the moon are especially celebrated. As the morning and evening temperatures drop, the leaves begin to change colors.
